Soon after his inauguration, President Katzir joined his precedecessor, Zalman Shazar – born Shneur Zalman Rubashov to a Chabad family in Belarus –at a Chasidic gathering in Kfar Chabad. Katzir already knew the movement well from his friendship with Chabad’s Rabbi Shlomo Maidanchik.
Against the backdrop of continuing tensions following the 1973 Yom Kippur War, Katzir used the opportunity to inspire enthusiasm for Israel’s cause, and to encourage the vital role he felt Chabad needed to take.
“Chabad Chasidim represent the best of Judaism. You are role models for the Jewish people. May you be able to continue being role models with your blessed activities and efforts.”

Quick facts:
Chabad Publication:
“The great concern of the late Rebbe of Lubavitch is known for the safety and security of the state Israel, as well as its opposition to concessions and withdrawals; But not many know the depth of his almost daily involvement in the affairs of the state, and the intensity of the dialogue who conducted with its top political-security leaders. The new book "In the Moment of Truth", written by journalists Shalom Yerushalmi, Yossi Alitov, and Aryeh Ehrlich, unveils the close system of ties that the Rebbe maintained with the heads of state and IDF champions. The book reveals how much he was updated in real-time in the most confidential discussions, and which influence has affected the decision-making system in Israel.
… The formula 'territories for peace' is fundamentally wrong. Concessions and setbacks weaken Israel and increase the temptation on the part of its enemies to erode its power in the hope of extinction. Precisely a determined stand will eventually cause the Arab world to come to terms with its existence.”
Former Mossad chief Meir Amit:
"We (the Mossad) appreciate their (Chabad) activity, most of all, in the powerful activity of Chabad emissaries all over the world, we saw them as ACTIVE PARTNERS"
Article (2014): Mossad-Chabad Link Implied by Knesset Decision
“For the first time, the Knesset acknowledged that the Houses of Chabad are an integral part of the State. They will even double as military bases for these men! For the first time, the Knesset acknowledged that the Houses of Chabad are part of its intelligence-gathering machine abroad; providing Mossad with safe-houses in foreign lands.”
2014: Knesset Session Honors the Rebbe
“The Israeli Knesset Parliament in Jerusalem held a special session on Tuesday honoring the Rebbe on the 20th anniversary of Gimmel Tammuz.
Legislators from across the political spectrum expressed their deep appreciation for the Rebbe and the selfless work of his followers around the country and the world.” (source)
2015: Israeli Knesset Honors The Rebbe
“The tremendous contributions of the Rebbe and Chabad were recognized in the Israeli Knesset (parliament) with speeches, displays and videos on Monday.
The meeting was also addressed by Former Chief Rabbi Israel Meir Lau, who frequently discusses his longstanding admiration of the Rebbe that dates back to the very early years of his rabbinical career.”
2018: Chabad Day in the Knesset
“Members of the Israeli Knesset and other high-ranking Israeli officials took time from their busy legislative schedules to hail the legacy of the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson of righteous memory, and the work of Chabad-Lubavitch emissaries as a unifying and caring force across Israel and the world.
Shturem-Chabad article:
“The Jewish religious & secular media are amazed at the devotion of his followers & his wide political influence, beyond proportion, both in the US & in Israel”
CHABAD Rabbi David Eliezrie:
"You might be aware of how deeply connected he (Rebbe Schneerson) was to its leadership from across the political and societal spectrum there and how they’d regularly seek his guidance and counsel. Not too long after the Rebbe’s passing, one of my South African colleagues hosted a couple of important representatives from the far left in Israel, who bemoaned the loss of the Rebbe’s guiding voice for Israel."

“Yitzhak Rabin, like many of Israel's leading statesmen, had extensive contacts with the Rebbe, which included meetings and an exchange of letters.” (source)

Chabad is the top Jewish power in our day, and its goal is to hasten the coming of moshiach.
“CHABAD Chassidism is a movement founded almost two centuries ago by one of the most famous Jewish personalities of his time, Rabbi Shnur Zalmen of Lyadi, White Russia. The present Lubavitcher Rebbe, Menachem Mendel Schneerson has attained the status of a WORLD ORGANIZATION with numerous branches running the gamut from Morocco to Australia. Thus as we have seen, Chabad Chassidism is MESSIANISM in its most exalted state - and ever young and rejuvenating force with a most up-to-date MISSION.”
“The CHABAD movement emphasizes a person's role in the world. The attitude towards the conscious actions of a person, towards the recognition of the role of a “co-worker with G-d” lies at the heart of our teaching”
“A Chassid is born and educated into a consciousness in which his whole life and actions revolve around one point: the Rebbe. Rebbe is my head, brain and heart, from him and by him my spirit and soul will suck from God. We have no other reality in the world besides him.”
GOAL OF HIS ADMINISTRATION
"CHABAD Rabbi Schneerson declared his goal and the goal of CHABAD, is to prepare the world for Moshiach. (antichrist)."
“The CURRENT GENERATION (of CHABAD) has been honored with the greatest mission - to turn the world into a dwelling place for G-d, to return the Divine presence to earth. None of the previous generations faced a task of such a level and scale.”
“In one of his historic talks, the Rebbe said that he was transferring responsibility for bringing on the Redemption to us and that we must do so through our own efforts.”
"The Rebbe taught that a shliach (rabbis) embodies the unique characteristics of Moshiach, hence they are the vital last link to bringing Geulah. (redemption)"
“Shliach: A literaly embodiment of Geulad”
“I managed to make it for Rebbe’s funeral. The next day, all the shluchim from around the world, committed ourselves to continuing our work to bring in Moshiach."

“Preparing the world to greet Moshiach!”
Book: WE WANT MOSHIACH NOW! Understanding the Messianic Message in the Jewish Chabad-Lubavitch Movement, Page 57:
“Early kabbalah was infused with messianism (i.e. end time calculations, messianic ideas and visions). It stressed the catastrophic element of redemption and especially after the expulsion from Spain the end became as important as the beginning. The task of hastening the end even became pivotal for the mystics, just as it is for (CHABAD) Lubavitchers today.”

Very brief:
Chabad, although originally opposed to it, nevertheless has a commanding position in the Chief Rabbinate of Israel, a supreme rabbinic institution operating on behalf of the government in the State of Israel. The leading Rabbis are all Chabad or support Chabad. Read details [here].
Interestingly, an Israeli CHABAD website reveals that there is a Chabad Rabbinical Court (Sanhedrin). A search on google in English comes up with no reference to this.
CHABAD Rebbe Schneerson meeting with Chief Rabbi of Israel (1983-1993) Mordechai Eliyahu
(Then) Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Israel Shlomo Moshe Amar on the Rebbe's leadership:
“To sit in one place in Brooklyn, and from there to LEAD THE WHOLE WORLD, is something that has never happened in history. Chabad has an empire. The Rebbe built Judaism all over the world. The Rebbe in the upper worlds is engaged in the redemption and the Messiah, and transforms worlds so that we will all soon have complete redemption.” (source)
