"Estimates of the number of people killed at Auschwitz vary widely. The Nazis destroyed camp records and people killed on arrival were not registered making a precise calculation impossible. Post war Soviet Investigators suggested a high figure of 4,000,000, while the camp commandant Rudolf Höss boasted of killing 2,000,000". More recent research shows that approximately 1,300,000 people were deported to Auschwitz, at least 1,100,000 died, over a million of them Jewish.
Not true.
From the testimony of Rudolf Höss at Nuremberg 15th April 1946:
"I commanded Auschwitz until 1 December 1943, and estimate that at least 2,500,000 victims were executed and exterminated there by gassing and burning, and at least another half million succumbed to starvation and disease making a total dead of about 3,000,000."
