Kogon really set the standard when
he contradicted himself, in the same
book, on the very next page
In 1950 he published The
Theory and Practice of Hell, which
was orignally published in Germany
in 1946, under the name Der
SS Staat. The image below is scanned
from a 2006 edition.
On page 247, Kogon states that Auschwitz
had "at least 3.5 million victims,
probably 4.5 million."
On page 248, Kogon states "Deaths at
Auschwitz 5,500,000"
