Jews and Christmas - Radio Islam

JEWS SPEAK AMONGST THEMSELVES ABOUT CHRISTMAS

Let's hope this Christmas season is joyful and educational. For enlightenment, let's look intrinsically at a distant world mentality. This is our 12th review of an ethnic American newspaper. This time we will show you exactly what Am-Jews say amongst themselves about Christmas. As usual no opinions will emanate from this author's pen.

The publication under discussion is 'The Jewish Press of Pinellas County.' We are looking at the most recent issue (Vol. 17, No. 11, Dec. 20, 2002). It has 28 pages, and rather than comment about various articles we will refer to the front page. After this, we will elicit factual J mentality as it pertains to Christmas. Have fun, be light hearted and enjoy yourself.

During this Christmas season, as men and women get ready to die and fight in political wars, please remember, when you read what this group feels, that passions are the window of the soul. There is always hope. So, have kindness, happiness and peace in your heart.

The cover page of JP has an article about nationally acclaimed media politician Allan Keyes. Mr. Keyes, a Republican, divulges his soul's substance to a large audience. He asserts that 'When Israel falls, that will be the fall of all freedom, of all free countries, all decency.' Keyes believes 'Israel should have a special place in the hearts of all decent men, because it is the epitome of the triumph of good over evil.' Keyes announces that 'Israel was born out of the belief in the spirit of good to fight evil to make the world a better place for children.' He continues to tell a large audience that 'Israel is in the front line and center in our battle, and hope, that evil will not triumph.' Mr. Keyes contends 'that the Saudis are not our friends.' When asked if he believes a Palestinian state should exist, Keyes said, 'Of course I do,' but he elucidates, for the audience's pleasure, 'the case can be made that a Palestinian state already exists and it is Jordan.'

Also, on the first page is an article about a local Floridian Holocaust museum. Another column concerns a former Israeli Prime Minister. Mr. Ehud Barak will be coming to Florida, to St. Petersburg. He'll speak to fellow Jews and 'be at a fundraiser' Sponsor tickets range from $500 to $2,000. The readership is told that Barak is 'following national personalities such as attorney Dershowitz, Rabbi Marc Gellman and Charles Krauthammer.'

Because it's Christmas time, we will condense this piece for your reading pleasure with an article entitled, 'Jews Answer Age Old Query: What to do during Christmas time.' We read that 'Jews are proclaiming their identity by creating new cultural traditions for Christmas.' The readership digests 'that new Jewish rituals are evolving'; that 'Jews are taking refuge in Chinese restaurants to such an extent that it has become a cliche.' The column continues by informing Floridians that one Jewish comedian, Lisa Geduldig, of San Francisco, 'put on a comic strip about Christmas.' It seems 'a decade ago she was booked at a Chinese eatery.' She joked about Christmas 'to her being Merry Christmas'ed to death.' So, 'she threw together a comedy show at a restaurant in San Francisco's Chinatown.'

The show grew to such an extent that it won major national applause and newspaper/periodical headlines; it was referred to on TV; it had to be moved to places which could accommodate larger and larger audiences. Readers are told that a comic asked the audience, 'When the millionth person says to you 'Merry Christmas' don't you feel like replying 'F--k you.'

Anyways, this year the Jewish 'San Francisco Christmas show features four days of Jewish comics.' Already 3,000 tickets have been sold and patrons 'will be given fortune cookies with Yiddish proverbs.' The readership is told about the potential for other 'Noisy Night Christmas activities.' Readers learn that there are plenty of Christmas options for Jews. For example, we read that one event is about, and I quote, 'It's no fun to be a Jew at Christmas.' Moreover, Js are told that elsewhere there will be plenty of 'Israeli dances and Jewish single events in such cities as Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Las Vegas, Miami, San Francisco, and New York.'

Also, one reads 'that Jewish museums all over U.S.A. will not only remain open on Christmas' but, that 'they often attract their largest crowds of the year.' Lastly, the holiday article ends by stating that 'Jews use Christmas to express Jewishness.'

Some say that we should not dwell on the potential of evil war and the killing of women and children, because of the influence of a powerful anti-majority element. I say that in this season of happiness and joy, it's good to see what's in the heart of others. Understanding them and famous Washington politicos, such as Allan Keyes, will make us better men and women. While others use media indoctrination and political blackmail for their justification of evil wars, let us have adequate understanding in our hearts.
